India win two compound archery golds at Asian Games
Olympics.com reports women's team and mixed team victories, plus an LA 2028 quota.
India won gold in both the women's compound team and compound mixed team archery events at the Asian Games on September 30, according to Olympics.com's official live report.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi beat China 238-234 in the women's team final. Olympics.com says the 238-point finish equalled the women's compound team world record set by South Korea in 2014. India had led 119-116 halfway through the final.
Chikitha also partnered Sahil Jadhav in the mixed team final against South Korea. That match finished 157-157 before a shoot-off, in which both Indian archers scored 10 while South Korea's final arrow scored nine. The shoot-off decided the winner; it is separate from the tied 157-point regulation score.
Olympics.com says the mixed team victory secured a quota place for India at LA 2028, where compound mixed team archery will make its Olympic debut. A country quota is not the same as naming the athletes who will eventually compete at the Olympics.
