India women beat South Korea 2-0 to reach hockey final
Ishika Chaudhary and Salima Tete score as India set up a gold-medal match against China.
India reached the Asian Games women's hockey final with a 2-0 win over South Korea on September 30. Olympics.com's official report credits Ishika Chaudhary in the 44th minute and captain Salima Tete in the 48th.
The first half ended without a goal. Ishika broke the deadlock from a penalty-corner variation near the end of the third quarter, before Salima doubled India's lead in the final quarter. The result is a completed semi-final win, not a final gold medal.
India are scheduled to face reigning champions China in the final. Olympics.com reports that China advanced after a shootout against Japan in the other semi-final. That deciding method belongs to China's match and should not be attached to India's 2-0 result.
The source says the Games champions earn an early Olympic berth. India's qualification opportunity is therefore still tied to winning the final; this semi-final victory alone is not confirmation of that berth. The country medal-table snapshot and match report answer different questions.
