Commentary

  • A dominant performance with both bat and ball from Ireland has seen them pull off a huge 130-run win to tie the series at 2-2. It all comes down to the final game now! We will be back nice and early to bring you all the action from the decider. Until then, it's goodbye from all of us here!
  • Lorcan Tucker | Ireland captain: [On levelling the series 2-2 with a convincing victory] Yeah, absolutely thrilled. I think we worked really hard for that victory today. A couple of special performances. Jai in the second innings with the new ball, blew Namibia away. It's what we've been asking him to do. It was absolutely amazing and Tim (Tector) in the first innings and Curtis (Campher) putting on that total. I think it really set up the game well for us. [On the positives heading into Sunday's series decider] Like it's set up really nicely. Now 2-2 going into the last game. We've obviously got the advantage today, so we'll try and take that momentum into the last game on Sunday.
  • Gerhard Erasmus | Namibia captain: [On the 130-run defeat and where the team fell behind] I thought obviously we got sort of behind the game a little bit early on in the morning. So it was always a tough one for us to fight back on and sort of just didn't get our hands on the game all day long. [On the impact of losing the toss and being put under pressure] Yeah, especially when you toss one against put in under pressure and the back foot, it's difficult to build from there. [On the difference between today's performance and the previous game] I think it's sort of a momentum kind of thing where we probably leaked a little bit too many runs and then obviously the guys didn't set that foundation for us to be able to go have a crack at that big total. [On the series being level at 2-2 ahead of Sunday's decider] I guess that's one good thing about today's result. But for us, still very disappointing and one that we have to shrug off quite quickly. We put ourselves in a place to win the series by playing good cricket through the series. So we have a shot again on Sunday.
  • Jai Moondra | Player of the Match: [On a memorable performance that helped level the series] Yeah, obviously it's a day I will remember because we need to win to level the series to stay in the fight. So plan was clear to back yourself and just do what you have been doing and bowl the lengths that have been working over here and be disciplined about that and let the results come on. So that's probably was the plan and everyone played through it. So I'm really happy about that. [On making early inroads and putting pressure on the Namibian top order] So main idea was to create pressure and let them create the chances because wicket was favorable for the batsman but if you hit the good length, you can get some nick off and wickets. So that's probably what happened. We wanted to just create the pressure and let's see how things rolls out.
  • 16:33 Local Time, 14:33 GMT, 20:03 IST: Ireland delivered a clinical performance with both bat and ball to secure a commanding 130-run victory over Namibia, leveling the series 2-2 and setting up a deciding final game. Opting to bat first on a pitch offering help to the bowlers, Ireland compiled a total of 298/8 in their 50 overs. Tim Tector anchored the early part of the innings with a composed 73 off 81 balls. After a flurry of wickets in the middle order, Curtis Campher blew the game wide open with a blistering 66 off 50 balls, smashing six sixes. Late power hitting from George Dockrell ensured Ireland closed out strongly, despite a standout spell from Namibia's JJ Smit, who led his side's attack with brilliant figures of 4/34. In response, Namibia never gained any momentum, struggling against disciplined bowling lines and losing wickets at regular intervals. Jai Moondra produced a match winning spell, taking a six-wicket haul (6/26). Ireland eventually bundled out Namibia for 168 in 41 overs to wrap up a comprehensive victory and keep their series alive. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff....
